Alistair Lynx Ignis
The main protagonist. The second son of the Hero King, known for his mischief and unpredictability. He is incredibly sociable and can easily befriend anyone, but he is often viewed as the liability of the royal family. Upon meeting Emily, he becomes friends with her, and wants to ensure that she made her way back to the Human World safely. Despite his candid attitude, he is actually sly and scheming.
The narrator and deuteragonist, a Human girl who stumbled into Cras and befriends Alistair and the royal family. Since young she believed in the existence of Cras, due to the book History of Cras which her father gave to her. Despite entering the kingdom of her dreams, Emily’s love for her father caused her to be homesick. She is incredibly mature for her age, though still relatively naive.
A speaking cat that Emily found when she first enters Primitus, who has iridescent eyes, hence her name. She becomes incredibly attached to Emily, and protects her during her journey. Aurora is able to change her form and appearance into different beings, objects and even weapons when necessary. She’s generally cheerful and full of sarcasm, but cares deeply for Emily and Alistair’s security.
Originally known as an elusive kidnapper who turns anyone that looks at him into stone, Alexander is actually a philanthropist that adopted orphans or children from poverty. He became a recluse after failing the Knights examination for the tenth time. Alistair finds potential in him and promises to make him a knight. He eventually decides to join Emily and Alistair to protect them on their travels.
Leonard Dynax Ignis
The Hero King of Cras, who led the people to overthrow the previous king. Because of his benevolent and kind nature, he is extremely popular. Leonard, however, has plans to abolish the aristocracy and monarchy, seeing that the system always leads to corruption. He also seems to know the truth of the kingdom, and grows increasingly concerned that Emily might come to know of it.
Mavis Vega Ignis
The Queen of Cras, and Alistair and Aeon’s mother. Like her husband, she is incredibly eccentric, and adores Emily for her maturity. While Leonard is the kind and sociable ruler, Mavis acts as the strict and critical support. In several ways, Mavis is a lot wiser than her husband, and helps with political strategies while juggling civil issues.
Aeon Aegis Ignis
Alistair’s older brother and the First Prince of Cras. Despite his popularity in the court and his excellent skills in handling politics, Leonard still doesn’t grant him the title of “Crown Prince”, which angers Alistair. Despite their occasional sibling rivalry, Aeon adores his younger brother, countering his mischievous and chaotic methods with sarcastic parodies of his own.
Brian Taran Ignis
Alistair and Aeon’s cousin, but is frequently referred to as their brother. He is the child of Leonard’s brother and Mavis’ sister, who both perished during the war. He is seemingly more dimwitted when compared with his brothers, but fares better than them in physical training and military planning. Unlike his brothers, he has no ambition or goals for his future.
Aristocrats: Marquess Sakamoto
The young marquess that takes care of the border of Primitus, and is at the forefront of Artifact technology, having creating the first successful Intelligent Artifact a year into the Ignis rule. An ardent inventor and businessman, his popularity is only undermined by his childish and absent-minded nature, a trait that Alistair often takes advantage of during his pranks.
Hideyoshi’s wife, who is of few words and speaks in low volumes. The only time she raises her voice would be in regards to her twin boys, who have the tendency to drive her to her wit’s end. She is one of the best chefs in the country, and is often invited to serve food for the royal family. Kanata herself also bears some scars from the past, as her older twin sister was an innocent who was executed by the court.
The older brother of the Sakamoto twins, Akira is cheerful and adventurous, often chasing after Alistair and joining in his antics. Akira is also a prodigy, showing interest in his father’s work, is incredibly talkative, and is full of new ideas. He immediately takes a liking to Emily, knowing that she would participate in their mischief rather than reprimand them.
The younger brother of the Sakamoto twins, Haruka is extremely shy and quiet, often making Akira speak in his stead. Because of this, Alistair was tasked with taking care of the twins to be able to instill confidence in Haruka and reduce his dependence on Akira. Haruka also quickly takes a liking to Emily, finding her easier to talk to than Alistair.

Emily’s father, who gave Emily the History of Cras and inspired her love for the mysterious country. He fell sick and disappeared shortly before Emily entered Cras.
A friend of Charles and Emily, who provided the cruise tickets for Emily’s 10th birthday that led to her entrance into Cras.
